School Health Requirements
  • Complete and up-to-date immunizations record
  • Health Assessment (must be done by a doctor) for all students enrolling in a North Carolina Public School for the first time, including Kindergarten.
    Immunizations Needed for K-6
  • DTaP - 5 doses
  • Polio - 4 doses (last one after the 4th birthday)
  • MMR - 2 doses
  • Hib - 1-4 doses
  • Hepatitis B - 3 doses
  • Varicella (chickenpox) - 2 doses
 *The school must have proof of the above by the 30th calendar day after starting school. After the 30th day, the principal shall not allow the child to attend school until proof of immunizations and the health assessment are received. (See your School Nurse with questions and concerns.)
 
Immunizations Clinic:
Immunizations are available from your child’s doctor or Catawba County Public Health. For an appointment at Catawba County Public Health, call 695-5881.
